First Aid FAQs

A first aid course provides essential training on how to respond effectively to medical emergencies. It covers a range of topics such as administering CPR, treating cuts, burns, and fractures, managing choking incidents, and recognising signs of serious medical conditions like heart attacks and strokes. The aim is to equip participants with the knowledge and confidence to provide immediate care until professional help arrives.

The duration of a first aid course depends on the level and type of certification. Basic courses, such as Basic Life Support + AED, can last just 3 hours. More comprehensive courses, like First Aid at Work, may take up to three days. Refresher courses and specialised training sessions can be shorter or tailored to specific needs.

Due to the nature of first aid training, which includes practical skills like CPR and bandaging, all of our first aid courses include face to face training. Some of our courses also include online elements, but the hands-on skills need to be taught in person.

It is possible to fail a first aid course if the required skills and knowledge are not demonstrated during assessments. However, our courses are designed to be supportive, with instructors offering additional guidance and practice opportunities if participants struggle with certain skills.

Yes, pregnant individuals can take part in first aid courses. Instructors are usually accommodating and can adjust practical exercises to ensure comfort and safety. If certain activities, such as practicing CPR on the floor, are challenging, alternative techniques can be demonstrated.
